No Corolla vacation is complete without seeing the wild horses that roam the northern Outer Banks! Descended from stock brought by Spanish explorers in the 16th century they are a must see.
Corolla’s oldest tour company, Corolla Outback Adventures, began business in 1962 as Bender’s Beach Service providing guided fishing, hunting and sightseeing parties. Multi-generation residents of the northern Outer Banks, the Bender family donated over 60 acres of land to the Wild Horse Conservation Easement, and today enjoy exclusive access to this land for their tours to observe the horses in their natural habitat.
Traversing several refuge areas and sanctuary sites, Corolla Outback Adventures tours feature a unique and memorable two-hour round-trip North toward Carova Beach and False Cape State Park near the Virginia – North Carolina border. Picturesque scenery and of course our Colonial Spanish Mustangs, offer many photo opportunities. Your guide will offer some historical and ecological knowledge as well!
